A “Healthy” use of AI?

That sounds crazy. A healthy use of AI isn’t possible. Because “artificial” intelligence is the devil right? That is not an unfair assessment if you are paying attention to current trends. The amount of jobs AI is scheduled to cancel from the workforce is scary. AI is one of the biggest industry distributors we’ve seen, perhaps ever.

But let’s deal with a reality head on. AI has many flaws that aren’t as heavily promoted as its fears. The biggest flaw is the lack of propriety control that is common with advanced software. AI also breaks code. A lot. Which is also a high security risks for companies building their infrastructure using only AI without human eyes. And that’s only the small piece of what we know for certain right now.

You may not be aware of this listening only to mainstream media. But yes there are major concerns being screamed from the highest mountains as well. But mainly because of the first flaw mentioned. The most advanced neutral networks are not protected from reverse engineering AI models. And even if they are right now that doesn’t mean they will be later. For this same reason your Iphone or Android has to upgraded. The same applies to AI and because AI is the software for today’s robotics, the same applies there as well.

We have been in the creative space for several decades at least, so we understand how Creatives are impacted by AI. But Creatives reluctant to integrate AI into their work aren’t really doing themselves any favors. The bottom line is AI is the evolution of digital software. If you were comfortable using Fl Studio to make beats or Photoshop to make graphics, you were using the parent of AI. And these tools cancelled jobs as well, but it also made life much easier for producers and designers. For the same reason people ask “How tf did they mix songs before computers?” very soon AI will be in that conversation. Technology evolves. And when tech evolves humans evolve to meet its demand.

In the mid-1970s- when DJ Grandmaster Flash developed his own cross-fader mixer to manipulate a vinyl record like an instrument, this led to his Quick Mix Theory. A song’s drum beat could now be played endlessly using two identical records. This was called human sampling. Electronic samplers existed, but they weren’t affordable at the time.

Samplers in music production reduced the need for session musicians dramatically. But as usual, people adjusted. And in fact those who learned these tools ended up becoming some of these greatest musicians in music history. J Dilla tops the list.

Our official opinion on AI is that AI is a tool. And like any tool it can be used for a positive and negative purpose. AI deep fakes can be used to deceive masses of people into believing an image or video is real, And it can be used to conduct research analysis on several bodies of work in a matter of seconds. We do not outsource our “reasoning” to AI in order to write content. But we do use several custom models we’ve trained to look at data. Image models can also be trained by illustrators and Designers. The out-the-box models we use for content are on purpose for certain types of information. The “healthy” use of AI is using AI ethically and with the willingness to be transparent about its use.
